Presentation of the PROVE project at the Annual Conference on Moral Education (AME) in Finland

From August 7 to 9, 2025, the PROVE project was presented at the annual conference of the Association for Moral Education (AME), held in Tampere, Finland. The AME conference is one of the most prominent international academic gatherings in the field of values and moral education, bringing together keynote speakers, researchers, and practitioners for sessions and discussions.

The PROVE project was represented by Jean-Luc Patry and Serob Khachatryan, who presented the results of the needs assessment research conducted within the framework of PROVE on values education. The participation of the Armenian representative was supported by the H. Hovnanian Family Foundation Armenia. This presentation also provided an important opportunity to introduce the VaKE (Values and Knowledge Education) approach to a wider international audience.

A notable moment during the conference was the presence of David Kohlberg, the son of Lawrence Kohlberg, the author of the influential theory of stages of moral development. David Kohlberg, who currently leads the Kohlberg Foundation, showed genuine interest in the PROVE project, highlighting its relevance and potential within the field of moral and values education.

In addition, the VaKE Handbook was displayed at the conference registration area, giving participants the opportunity to learn about the methodology.

Participation in the AME conference was significant not only for sharing the project’s research findings but also for establishing new international contacts and networks, which may lead to future collaboration. Looking ahead, the team plans to develop the presentation into an academic article, pursue its publication, and continue engagement with the AME community in upcoming conferences.

The PROVE project aims to integrate values education into higher education curricula across the South Caucasus, develop relevant courses, retrain professors, and actively involve communities beyond universities in this process
